Take The Next Step

When the Communists overran China, missionary Isobel Kuhn escaped on foot with her son across the snow covered Pienma Pass. She made in through the pass and to a town in Burma but she had no money, no friends and no way to communicate with the natives. Later she wrote: "words cannot express the dismay, the fear that filled me". In this very difficult situation, Isobel made three decisions. [1] She rebuked fear. The only thing [according to scripture] that a child of God should fear is God and sin. All other fears are from Satan who wants to confuse us, confound us and condemn us. So Isobel identified her fears, called them what they were and ask the Lord to cast them from her heart. From that point on, she refused to allow fear to be her master. [2] Her second decision was to step into the light that she had. She had no idea how to get out of Asia but she decided to leave that to the Lord and to seek his leadership moment by moment. When and wherever she saw the light of truth, she stepped in that direction. [3] She determined to live one day at a time. Her circumstances were overwhelming so she learned to trust God in small increments. Like the lady who was told that her husband had been murdered. She trembled with fear and almost collapsed. Anxiety was attacking her but a still small voice said to her, sit down, take a deep breath and pray. Her prayer was simple, "Lord help me to know what to do next and to be calm in doing it." We don’t need to know what to do next week or month, we need to know what to do next. Anytime you deal with deep tragedy or disappointment, you must force yourself to live one day at a time. You have to take things in small portions, otherwise you will be overwhelmed.

PS--They canceled the football game last night due to rain, can you believe it. I never thought I would see the day that you cancel a football game for a little rain. It has messed up our schedule for today but TRUNK-A-TREAT is still on...5:30-6:30. My brother in law is still in critical condition in H'ville. God to run, headed for Big L's football game. The Pee Wees play in the rain like real football players!
